1. Simple rules for healthy breathing. 2. The benefits of pranayama - yogic breathing practices 3. Synchronising the breath with movement 4. Using the breath to create better posture 5. Applying the breath to asana practice (Yoga postures)
The use of Yoga breathing practices to encourage a better understanding of the habits we have developed relating to our breathing. The course will include a more in-depth approach to some of the breathing techniques used in Yoga and show how the breath informs us of our overall level of health and allows us to move into gentle stretches more freely and easily. We will look at how the breath can be used to calm the mind and relax the body and how our breathing influences our daily lives.
All levels and abilities are welcome. You do not need to have previous experience of yoga to join this course. You will need to be able to follow verbal instructions and be willing to explore your breath in new ways. We will work from different base positions and therefore it would be helpful to be able to lie down, stand, and sit on the floor or on a chair but we can adapt and modify the practices to suit all physical abilities.
• Describe 3 important components in healthy breathing • Name and demonstrate at least 3 breathing practices • Identify changes that would benefit your regular breathing.
This is a live online course. You will need: - Internet connection. - A computer with microphone and camera or a tablet/iPad/smart phone. Basic online skills. We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

There are no other costs. You will need to wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will need a Yoga mat and cushions or blocks or large books to support you, or a firm, upright chair if working from a chair.
