What will the course Cover?
Learn basic skills that will build your confidence in the kitchen and find out tips on how to make nutritional meals for yourself and your family on a budget.
Who is this course for?
Learners with an interest in cookery who would like to learn how to make their cooking at home more cost effective, nutritional and tasty!
What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?
No previous experience is necessary, just an entusiasm to learn kitchen skills and how to cook.
What should I be able to do by the end of the course?
You will learn the basics of cooking styles, techniques and methods, understand supermarket deals, how to use your money effectively and also learn how to make more nutritionally balanced meals for all to enjoy.
How is the course organised?
There will be demonstration of each new technique. You will have a choice of different options for each dish you make and will be supported by the tutor throughout.
What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?
Practice of skills by cooking recipes at home (if possible) Shopping for ingredients.

Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?
Please bring a suitable container to take the food you make food home with you.
What support is available?
Help with literacy or numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Details are available from the guide and from teaching or reception staff. Specialist aids are also available such as hearing loops, wheelchair friendly surfaces.
