This course introuces key skills in maintaining your own bike.
An introduction to the journey to become a qualified cycle technician, this course is a great starting point.
No formal qualifications are required for this course. However, you should have a reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy and be able to follow written and spoken instructions and take notes.
You should be able to repair a cycle puncture, replace a cycle rim brake, manage a cycle gear assembly, and carry out a systematic cycle check.
The course will consist of practical activities. You will carry out tasks on your own bike.
Carry out small tasks for homework set by tutor.
Students’ progress will be assessed through practical tasks. This is a non-accredited course.
Advanced cycle technician training or trainer, team leader or workshop supervisor.
You may want to bring a note pad and writing instruments. You will also need overalls or some form of alternative work wear, i.e. coat or apron and suitable protective footwear (boots or similar). Please note trainers, soft shoes and sandals are NOT ALLOWED. We will supply most tools and equipment for use during the course. Please note: Any bicycles brought onto the premises and/or worked on in class are done so at the owners’ own risk.
