What will the course Cover?
You will be introduced to various mono-printing techniques, using additive and subtractive methods, such as painted, drawn, wiped, and masks. The aim is to create a set of prints, which explore the use of colour, mark-making, patterns and texture. These prints can be cut and appliquéd to produce layered prints. You will also explore using hand stitching in a dimensional and or decorative manner.
Who is this course for?
The course is suitable for all levels; beginners will be introduced to basic print methods and to some hand stitching.
What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?
No experience or prior knowledge is required. However more experienced students will have the opportunity to try a wider range of approaches, techniques and build on existing skills.
What should I be able to do by the end of the course?
Demonstrate an understanding of basic mono printing methods. Produce a set of prints inspired by personal imagery. Use appliqué and basic hand stitch to embellish prints. Identify basic colour theory.
How is the course organised?
The course combines demonstrations, practical exercises, group discussions with one-to-one tutoring.
What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?
It would be helpful if you could practice the hand stitch techniques, but this is not essential

Tutor feedback. Group discussions and evaluations. Progress reported on Individual Learning Plan.
What can I expect to go on to after this course?
You can progress to further specialist textile courses including Block Printing with Linocut.
Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?
All basic materials will be provided for the first session, the tutor will discuss with you any other fabric or threads required for subsequent sessions.
What support is available?
Help with literacy or numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Tutor - Amarjeet Nandhra
Amarjeet Nandhra is an artist and educator based in West London. She has been a
maker for over 40 years and has taught for over 30 years. Her practice explores the
idea that textiles hold our stories, stimulate our memories, and express our beliefs.
Her work explores the colours, patterns, and symbolism associated with traditional
Indian textiles. She is interested in examining the hidden meaning and looking
