Develop ways of seeing and interpreting, working from the figure in a variety of materials and techniques in this important visual art discipline.
All people who wish to develop their drawing skills from observation of the human form to improve their drawing skills or to build a portfolio
Some experience would be helpful, though not essential. Enthusiasm is very important, as is the willingness to achieve your own learning goals.
Recognise the formal elements and relationships of the human figure. Make a range of drawings of the figure, both clothed and unclothed, which clearly express the structure of the human form. Illustrate a clear understanding proportion in life drawings produced. Produce a series of drawings and simple paintings, using a variety of media. Use the centre of gravity to express balance in the structure of the figure. Specify the various styles of making images of the human form from different periods of art history.
Practical drawing sessions - Long and short poses - individual and group discussion with tutor.
Gallery visits, library books and websites are all useful as is sketch book work.
One to one and group feedback sessions and continuous evaluation of work produced through your Individual Learning Plan and Learning Journal.
Higher level courses in Adult Education or Further Education, or use your work to form part of a portfolio for possible application to HE or other opportunities.
Cartridge paper is available but you can bring your own if you want a better quality. Learners should provide their own fixative, masking tape, sketch books and additional drawing materials as necessary.
