The course is about learning and developing skills and techniques to On this beading course you will explore various techniques to make unique pieces of beaded jewellery and learn how to create a professional finish. You will develop the knowledge and understanding when selecting the materials for each project, for example when selecting metal wire, cord, thread, or beading wire for your various exciting jewellery projects.
Beginners and intermediate learners who are interested in learning how to design and make beaded jewellery, including earrings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets and cocktail rings.
None -This course is recommended for beginners or those who want to develop their skills.
By the end of the course you will be able to design and make various pieces of beaded jewellery. You will also experiment with the making of samples in class & use techniques learned to create personal projects. You will be able to work with the various tools safely and correctly.
Group demonstrations, samples, peer learning, visual handouts, you tube videos and individual guidance will be given to assist with your learning.
To gain the maximum benefit practice the topics covered during the class each week. Research in books, magazines and on websites will also support your progress.
Your tutor will give you verbal and written feedback (on your Individual Learning Plans), there will be some group discussions and peer assessments.

The course will be held in a light and spacious art room where each learner has their own set of pliers, cutters and a design board. Other tools can be borrowed from the jewellery workshop on request. Basic findings and beads are included in the course but if you wanted to use higher quality beads or start some personal projects you will need to purchase this yourself.
Help with literacy or numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
