Our course will help you to develop communicative and transferable English language skills and build your confidence to use those skills in real life. On the course you will learn how to read and write the Roman alphabet and numbers, and how to use phonics to help with basic spelling. You will also learn how to write simple sentences and read and understand simple texts. You will also practise your speaking and listening skills to have simple conversations.
ESOL courses are for people who plan to live in the UK permanently and who are working here or actively seeking work here. This course is for ESOL learners with no English, who are not familiar with reading and writing the Roman alphabet and who want to start learning English. PLEASE NOTE Our ESOL courses are government funded. By enrolling onto an ESOL course you agree to attend all your classes on time, or you may lose your place and not be offered another course in the future.
You don’t need any knowledge of English.
You should be able to read and write letters and numbers for use in daily life, understand simple texts and complete simple forms. You should also be able to hold simple conversations in English.
Classes are 2.5 hours and are twice a week.
Your teacher will give you homework to help you to make progress.
