ESOL courses are for people who plan to live in the UK permanently and who are working here or actively seeking work here. This course is for ESOL learners who want to practise speaking to others to boost their conversation skills and gain fluency as well as accuracy.
Speaking and listening, including pronunciation and conversation about topics that are useful in daily life. Please note that grammar, reading and writing are not the main focus of this course although you will be using them during the lessons.
Through class conversations, observation and feedback. You should improve your communication with others and feel more confident in daily life.
There may be a charge for your class but most learners on benefits or a low income are funded by the government and do not pay. Please enquire at interview or see the website for more details. Please bring pens and paper to class.
Some knowledge of English so that you can start communicating with others. This course is not suitable for learners with no English who need a Pre-Entry class.
You should be able to speak and listen to others more confidently, with improved pronunciation.
You will make more progress by watching TV, listening to the radio, podcasts and videos and also speaking to others. You may get homework from the teacher too.
You could move onto another conversation course or an accredited ESOL course to gain a qualification.
There may be in class support available but please check with your interviewer or teacher as soon as possible.
"Our ESOL courses are government funded. By enrolling onto an ESOL course you agree to attend all your classes on time or you may lose your place and not be offered another course in the future. "
