Information and practical guidance on the Maths curriculum, strategies and methods of teaching. Sessions focusing on the three key aspects of maths understanding will give you simple easy to follow information and enable you to learn and practise the basics along with your child.
Parents of KS1 & KS2 children (aged 5-11) who would like to find out more about how schools teach children Maths these days so that they can support their children at school.
You will need at least an intermediate level of English to really benefit from this course.
You will have a greater understanding of how your children are taught to Maths in today’s primary schools and how you can support them, and a greater understanding of fundamentals of numeracy learning.
Three 2-hour sessions covering the progression from ‘concrete’, to ‘pictorial’ and finally on to the ‘abstract’ conceptions of teaching.

You may wish to join another Family Learning course or to take an adult Maths course with us. Speak to your teacher.
This course is government funded so there is no cost to you, but you are expected to attend all the sessions and complete the course.
