How is the course organised?
The Pre Employment Skills programme allows learners to attend a range of classes to help build skills for independent living and employment. The courses run for one year starting in September and require a pre course interview where a minimum of 3 courses are selected. Classes include Literacy, Numeracy, Independent Living, IT and Communication Skills.
What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?
Learners are encouraged to use the skills learnt on the course at home and in their lives
How will my progress be assessed?
Learners will have an individual learning plan with realistic targets for both personal and class goals. They will be encouraged to review these targets with the tutor and understand their learning goals. Once a goal is achieved a new one will be set. Worksheets will be marked in class and kept to show the learner how they have progressed during the course. Learners will be able to say how they feel about the class during the course and at the end of the year. Learners will produce evidence towards their accreditation goals. This may be in the form of photographs, video or worksheets.

Specialist aids are also available such as hearing loops, roller-ball mice, large and keyboards. Makaton symbols and images are used where possible to help understanding. Senior Learning Support Assistants are available to support with enrolling, information, guidance and communicating with learners homes.
