Important information



Do you need some information, advice or guidance?

General enquiries are dealt with by staff trained to NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Information and Advice.  Our reception staff have access to a computer database of all courses.   Students requiring specific subject advice will be put in touch with the relevant member of curriculum staff. Tutors may also be contacted beforehand, to discuss whether a course/level is suitable. 

As well as enrolling learners, Adult Learning and Skills (ALSS), provides support and advice on courses, and signposting individuals to other services offered by H&F, such as a Job Adviser, The Volunteer Service, The National Careers Service and Beam.

Exam Access information

Exam access arrangements are reasonable adjustments that can be made for learners who might need extra time to complete an exam paper, enlarged papers or supervised rest breaks. Official evidence will be required to support your application.

Children’s Homework Club

As part of our course offers, our Family Learning division offer a variety of homework clubs at different locations around the borough.  You can see a full list of offers on our webpage Homework Clubs

Volunteering opportunities

The Volunteer Service

The Volunteer Service provide an online service, to support individuals into volunteering placements across the borough. Help residents with training, interview, and work skills. They also match residents with the next stage of their work/career path and aim to help residents to re-engage with the community.

This service is available every Tuesday afternoon online and appointments can be booked through our interview booking system.  Just complete your details and select "Volunteer centre" form the Subject list

Career advice, CV guidance and employability support

Job Adviser

This service supports individuals who need help to move into work, provide other careers information, access support to develop their CV, complete job applications and prepare for interviews. 

This service is available every Wednesday morning online and appointments can be booked through our interview booking system.  Just complete your details and select "Careers advice" form the Subject list


WorkZone is operated by Hammersmith and Fulham Council and offers support to all H&F residents to progress to find employment or progress their careers. The service includes: 

  • One-to-one information, advice and guidance towards finding work
  • Access to a range of vacancies, including jobs and apprenticeships which have been exclusively sourced for residents from a diverse range of sectors and employers
  • Help and support from experienced advisors who can assist with all aspects of job search and career progression.

Please note this service is exclusively for residents of Hammersmith and Fulham.

The National Careers Service

The National careers service support those who have been recently made redundant, helping them to look for new work by identifying their transferrable skills, as well as advice on Job search, careers, employment opportunities and interview skills.

Welfare benefits advice


Beam support individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, by providing advice to find work, as well as offer support with ICT, childcare, and travel expenses.

Health & Wellbeing

Health & Wellbeing courses include the over 50’s Agewell programme where you will find a range of exercise/rehabilitation/and other courses such as singing and painting at a reasonable cost to enable you to keep your body and mind healthy and alert.

Other Health & Wellbeing courses are available as part of our main community learning offer in Arts, Crafts and Performing Arts eg. Ballroom dancing, Learn to play the Piano or Guitar or join a range of visual Arts and Crafts courses ranging from Portraiture to Furniture restoration.

Business Support

We offer a range of business courses at the Macbeth Centre with details advertised on our website online, in centre and on eventbrite.

The H&F Business Enterprise Club meets monthly and is also the ideal place to network and get useful information to help you set up or run your own business.
