What will the course Cover?
Essential Digital Skills Level 1 expands on the basic skills you need to improve your computing abilities. It covers the following areas: Using devices and handling information (includes how to store information); Creating and editing files; Communicating online (such as via Social Media); Transacting (buying) online activities; Being responsible, safe and legal online. The course will show you how to use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and other essential skills to allow you to get the most out of computing in your daily life.
Who is this course for?
This course is for people who want to gain a L1 qualification in Essential Digital Skills.
What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?
To get the most from this course, you: • Should ideally have completed the Essential digital skills Entry 3 and Bridging course. • Should be able to use a keyboard and mouse, have experience using a computer or tablet, are familiar with emails, have a basic knowledge of creating a simple document and can create folders and save files confidently. • will also need to be working towards at least Level 1 in English/ESOL. • will need access to a computer/laptop and the internet to practice and apply your new skills. • Are required to have a pre-course assessment to access this course – please book an interview slot and you will be contacted about arranging this.
What can I expect to go on to after this course?
You can progress to more specific courses that focus on one piece of software in-depth, for example, Word Processing or Excel, depending on your needs and interests.
Are there any other costs and what do I need to bring?
There are no course fees as this course is funded by the government. By enrolling onto the course you agree to attend all your classes and take any exams required. Participants may wish to bring a notebook and pen for taking notes.
What support is available?
The tutor will provide individual assistance during the sessions. Please let your teacher know if you need any in class support or exam access arrangements as soon as possible so we can put support in place if possible.
