What will the course Cover?
This course provides a friendly and supportive introduction to basic computer skills, empowering participants to confidently apply for EDS EL3 It will cover: Basic computer terminology (hardware, software, internet.) Understanding the computer desktop and basic interfaces Using a mouse and keyboard effectively. Basic file management Introduction to internet browsing and searching. Basic email features. Online safety and security essentials.
Who is this course for?
An introduction to using computers, IT and the Internet. You may wish to go on to our accredited qualification course in Essential Digital Skills at E3. PLEASE NOTE This course is designed for beginners with some computer experience and intermediate English language skills. It is a government funded course and you will be expected to attend every class.
What skills, knowledge or experience do I need to start this course?
You will need to have at least an intermediate (E3 or above) level of English to follow this course. A willingness to learn and a positive attitude are also essential.
What should I be able to do by the end of the course?
Confidently use a mouse and keyboard. Navigate the computer desktop and basic interface. Create, save, and organize files. Browse the internet for basic searches. Understand basic online safety principles.
How is the course organised?
Each session will include a brief introduction to a topic, followed by guided practice.
What extra study or practice is expected outside of the class?
Participants are encouraged to practice the skills learned in class on their own time.
How will my progress be assessed?
Progress will be assessed through observation of practical skills during the sessions, informal Q&A and optional practice exercises.
What can I expect to go on to after this course?
You may want to enrol onto our E3 Essential Digital Skills courses and gain a qualification.

There are no course fees as this course is funded by the government. By enrolling onto the course you agree to attend all your classes.
