The Award in Counselling Skills qualification covers two units : Counselling Skills and Personal Development and Using Counselling Skills.
The Counselling Level 2 Award is designed for those learners who have had no previous experience of using counselling skills. They are also intended for those who wish to improve their listening and communication skills.
Level 2 certificate in English either Functional Skills English Level 2 or at least GCSE English grade 4 or equivalent. Please bring along your English certificate to the interview.
The Award allows learners to make a more informed choice as to whether or not to embark on a demanding vocational training towards a possible career in counselling or an allied career, e.g. welfare advice work, where counselling skills would be useful. Successful learners can also continue onto the certificate course if they so wish.
This course is organised over 11 weeks, meeting once a week.
You will be expected to work on your portfolio of assignments for assessment.
All units will be assessed by the tutor and by internal and external moderators. You will produce a portfolio of evidence for example; observations, witness statements, group discussion observation sheets, case studies, reports/notes.
Counselling Level 2 Certificate from January.
Please bring along a paper and pen. The tutor will advise on any resources required.
