A typical Dance Mix session lasts about an hour and incorporates several dance styles, including cumbia, merengue, salsa, reggaeton, mambo, rumba, flamenco, and calypso and Salsaton. The Latin music includes both fast and slow rhythms, allowing for a great cardio workout as well as body sculpting exercises. Depending on the instructor, you may even get a taste of belly dancing or hip-hop dancing, too.
This course is suitable for anyone interesed in improving their fitness through dance.
No previous knowledge is necessary to join, but please check with your GP if you have any old or new injuries.
You should be able to recognise a wider range of dance movements. Use greater flexibility, coordination and balance in your movements. Demonstrate increased stamina and control of movement. Be able to perform various dance moves smoothly & confidently.
The course is organised over 11 weeks, meeting for one hour once a week.
As individuals progress, home exercise will be recommended by the tutor.
Each learner is required to complete a health questionnaire and/or initial assessment from which the tutor will assist you in setting individual targets for progression within the class. The tutor will assess against the class targets and learners are expected to self assess and reflect on their own progression.
Progression within the courses enables learners to progress onto our termly Agewell courses. Your tutor will advise.
No extra costs. Please come along in comfortable and suitable clothing for an exercise class. You may like to bring a bottle of water.
