This course will focus on low-impact exercises designed to improve mobility, balance, strength, and flexibility, often with options for seated or standing exercises.
This class is for anyone who wants to improve their physical and mental health. But, more importantly to have FUN!
No previous knowledge is necessary to join, but please check with your GP if you have any old or new injuries.
By the end of this course, you should be able to perform a variety of gentle exercises, improve your cardiovascular fitness and flexibility, and enhance your strength and endurance. You should also be able to improve your balance, mobility, and posture, and understand the importance of regular physical activity for overall health and well-being.
The course is organised over 11 weeks, meeting for one hour once a week.
As individuals progress, home exercise will be recommended by the tutor.
Each learner is required to complete a health questionnaire and/or initial assessment from which the tutor will assist you in setting individual targets for progression within the class. The tutor will assess against the class targets and learners are expected to self assess and reflect on their own progression.
Progression within the courses enables learners to progress onto our termly Agewell courses. Your tutor will advise.
No extra costs. Please come along in comfortable and suitable clothing for an exercise class. You may like to bring a bottle of water.
Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programme. The ESOL programme offers help to speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Details are available from the ALSS course guide and from teaching or reception staff.
