These classes are a step up from beginner level and focus on developing more advanced steps, movements, and vocabulary, while also enhancing artistry, musicality, and confidence.
For individuals who have some prior experience in ballet, typically at least one year of regular classes, and are looking to refine their technique and build upon foundational skills.
No previous knowledge is necessary to join, but please check with your GP if you have any old or new injuries.
By the end of this Ballet Fit Improvers course, you should be able to perform more advanced ballet steps and combinations with greater confidence and control, while also improving your posture, flexibility, and overall fitness. You will have stronger back, arms, legs and a better sense of balance. You will improve your coordination skills and keep your brain healthy. You should also have a deeper understanding of ballet technique and vocabulary.
The course is organised over 11 weeks, meeting for one hour once a week.
As individuals progress, home exercise will be recommended by the tutor.
Each learner is required to complete a health questionnaire and/or initial assessment from which the tutor will assist you in setting individual targets for progression within the class. The tutor will assess against the class targets and learners are expected to self assess and reflect on their own progression.
Progression within the courses enables learners to progress onto our termly Agewell courses. Your tutor will advise.
No extra costs. Please come along in comfortable and suitable clothing for an exercise class. You may like to bring a bottle of water.
Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programme. The ESOL programme offers help to speakers of other languages.
