This course covers the development of co-ordinated movement, understanding of how to self monitor the intensity of an exercise and change it to suit. Increase general cardiovascular fitness and strength. Develop a healthier lifestyle.
This course is suitable for anyone interested in aerobic work using upper and lower body work and stretching. This course is suitable for all levels.
No previous knowledge is necessary to join, but please check with your GP if you have any old or new injuries.
By the end of this course, you should be able to effectively self-monitor your exercise intensity and adjust it to suit your needs. You should also have a better understanding of various exercises, including bodyweight exercises, resistance training, and core workouts, and be able to incorporate them into your routine.
This course is an 11 week Wednesday afternoon course.
As individuals progress, home exercise will be recommended by the tutor.
Each learner is required to complete a health questionnaire and/or initial assessment from which the tutor will assist you in setting individual targets for progression within the class. The tutor will assess against the class targets and learners are expected to self assess and reflect on their own progression.
Progression within the courses enables learners to progress onto our termly Agewell courses. Your tutor will advise.
No extra costs. Please come along in comfortable and suitable clothing for an exercise class. You may like to bring a bottle of water.
Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programme. The ESOL programme offers help to speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Details are available from the ALSS course guide and from teaching or reception staff.
