A Fitness with ballet class combines ballet technique with fitness principles, focusing on improving strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination while also enhancing cardiovascular fitness and body awareness. You'll learn ballet positions and terminology, improve posture, and potentially experience a low-impact, full-body workout.
For Agewell learners who are able to stand still. Coordination issues and inexperience (e.g., if a participant has never tried ballet before) are not an issue, as this is a modified ballet class for seniors.
This is a Summer Workshop open to all levels. No previous knowledge is necessary to join, but please check with your GP if you have any old or new injuries.
You will be able to use the exercises learnt from the course, to improve your posture and overall physical fitness.
4 weekly sessions in August 2025 comprising of one hour each.
As individuals progress, home exercise will be recommended by the tutor.
Each learner is required to complete a health questionnaire and/or initial assessment from which the tutor will assist you in setting individual targets for progression within the class. The tutor will assess against the class targets and learners are expected to self assess and reflect on their own progression.
Progression within the courses enables learners to progress onto our termly Agewell courses. Your tutor will advise.
No extra costs. Please come along in comfortable and suitable clothing for an exercise class. You may like to bring a bottle of water.
Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programme. The ESOL programme offers help to speakers of other languages.
