This short Qi Gong course will typically introduce you to fundamental principles, gentle movements, breathing techniques, and potentially meditation practices. You'll learn about the core concepts of Qi, energy flow, and how to harmonize your body and mind through movement and breath.
The course is for Agewell students who are interested in increasing strength, energy and a focused mind. Also for those looking to improve balance, stamina and flexibility & using the breath and body to move in unison. The practice is like a moving meditation and looks to release tension and strain out of the body. The movement involves repetitive movements done with relaxing music.
This is a Summer Workshop open to all levels. No previous knowledge is necessary to join, but please check with your GP if you have any old or new injuries.
You will be able to use the movements learnt from the course to help harmonize your body and mind through movement and breath.
This course is organised over 3 days Wed-Fri.
As individuals progress, home exercise will be recommended by the tutor.
Each learner is required to complete a health questionnaire and/or initial assessment from which the tutor will assist you in setting individual targets for progression within the class. The tutor will assess against the class targets and learners are expected to self assess and reflect on their own progression.
Progression within the courses enables learners to progress onto our termly Agewell courses. Your tutor will advise.
No extra costs. Please come along in comfortable and suitable clothing for an exercise class. You may like to bring a bottle of water.
Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programme. The ESOL programme offers help to speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Details are available from the ALSS course guide and from teaching or reception staff.
