A mix of stretching, cardio, and resistance training designed to help you get back into a fitness routine.
For Agewell learners who wants to improve their fitness, have fun and a space to feel welcome.
No previous experience is necessary. But, please check with your GP before commencing if you have any new or old injuries.
By the end of the course, you should see an increase in muscle strength, and an improvement in your physical health.
Organised over 3 weeks. Each class structure includes a warm-up, a main exercise segment tailored to the goals (strength, cardio, flexibility), and a cool-down. Use variety in routines to maintain engagement and cater to different fitness levels. Regularly update classes to keep them fresh and challenging.
As individuals progress, home exercise will be recommended by the tutor.
Each learner is required to complete a health questionnaire and/or initial assessment from which the tutor will assist you in setting individual targets for progression within the class. The tutor will assess on a weekly basis against the class targets in your ability to perform certain exercises – technique, endurance and agility.
Progression within the courses enables learners to progress onto our termly Agewell courses. Your tutor will advise.
There are no extra costs. You need to wear comfortable clothing (track suit, leggings, t-shirt etc) and trainers. You may also need to bring a mat and plenty of water. Most importantly, lots of energy and enthusiasm.
Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programme. The ESOL programme offers help to speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Details are available from the ALSS course guide and from teaching or reception staff.
