A yoga and meditation course typically covers both the physical practice of yoga and the mental discipline of meditation. It will likely include instruction on different yoga postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and various meditation techniques, along with information on the benefits of both practices for overall well-being.
This course is suitable for anyone interested in improving their physical and mental well-being, regardless of age, experience level, or fitness abilities.
No previous knowledge is necessary to join, but please check with your GP if you have any old or new injuries.
By the end of this yoga and meditation course, you should be able to comfortably perform basic yoga poses, engage in various breathing techniques, and practice meditation techniques with more ease and focus. You should also have a better understanding of your body, mind, and emotions.
The course is organised over 11 weeks, meeting for one hour once a week.
As individuals progress, home exercise will be recommended by the tutor.
Each learner is required to complete a health questionnaire and/or initial assessment from which the tutor will assist you in setting individual targets for progression within the class. The tutor will assess against the class targets and learners are expected to self assess and reflect on their own progression.
Progression within the courses enables learners to progress onto our termly Agewell courses. Your tutor will advise.
No extra costs. Please come along in comfortable and suitable clothing for an exercise class. You may like to bring a bottle of water.
Help with literacy and numeracy is available through the basic education programme. The ESOL programme offers help to speakers of other languages.
