Our family learning sessions at the Macbeth Centre are for parents, carers and children to take part together. They offer a chance to learn new skills, spend time together and meet other local families.
All sessions take place at the Macbeth Centre, Macbeth Street, London W6 9JJ.

Time: 10am - 1pm
Chess is a well known board game played by people of all ages. In this session, families will be taught the basics of chess and have the chance to practise and play together.
The session is suitable for beginners and for children aged seven and over and is is a great way to develop logical thinking and social skills while having fun.
More advanced children will be able to improve their skills by learning basic strategy and tactics ideas to apply in their games.
These workshops are one-off individual sessions, during the half-term.
No previous experience required.
Parents/carers must remain with their children throughout.
Dates: Every Saturday from 28 February 2026 - 28 March 2026
Time: 1pm - 3pm daily
Learn the language of love as a family! This five-week course will cover getting to know each other, family activities and routines, talking about the family, names of common food and drinks. Sessions also include time to enjoy the French language and culture together.
Have fun and learn something new!
Suitable for children aged five and over.

Discover the world of traditional and modern board games!
This session introduces families to a range of traditional and modern board games.
You will learn the rules of different strategy games, including classics such as Checkers and Go to modern favourites such as Hive and Othello. Learn the rules, explore the history and maths behind the games.
Families rotate between games and enjoy screen‑free time with a focus on building teamwork, communication and problem‑solving skills.
These workshops are one-off individual sessions suitable for children aged seven and over.
No previous experience required.
Parents/carers must remain with their children throughout.
