Free family workshops at the Macbeth Centre

Looking for something free and fun to do with your kids? 

Starting this Saturday (1 April), the whole family can get creative and learn together at the Macbeth Centre, Macbeth Street, Hammersmith W6 9JJ. It’s just off King Street near the town hall. 

Our Saturday courses are popular and fill up quickly. Call 020 8753 3600 and book now to avoid missing out.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer.

The Macbeth Centre is also the home of our Adult Learning service. So while you’re there, ask about one of our more than 450 adult courses from pottery to piano and language classes. 

Best for little ones

  • Paper puppetry workshops

    You and your kids can get creative together and make puppets out of paper. Then learn storytelling techniques and create a mini performance using your creations.
    Dates: 1 April, 13 May, 10 June and 1 July
    Time: From 10am to noon
    Age range: 4-11 years old

  • Shadow theatre workshops

    This fun, imaginative class teaches your little ones how to create shadow theatre out of cardboard.
    Dates: 22 April, 20 May, 17 June and 8 July
    Time: From 10am to noon
    Age range: 4-11 years old

  • Upcycling: three-week course

    Bring in tired old clothes – like jeans or t-shirts – and upcycle them using fabric paint, sew on appliqués, block printing, screen printing, hand-made pom-poms and tassels, hand-stitching methods, fabric patches and stencilling. 
    Dates: Three-week course starts 1 April, then 22 and 29 April.

    Time: From 10am to noon
    Age range: 6+

Great for older kids

  • One-to-one piano lessons

    Families can learn together in a 30-minute piano lessons.
    Dates: 1 and 22 April
    Time: From 10am to noon (30-minute slot)
    Age range: 6+

  • Fight like a girl

    This self-defence course will help girls feel safe and teach them how to manage any potentially dangerous situation.
    Dates: 1 and 22 April, 13 and 27 May, 17 June, 1 July
    Time: From 10am to noon
    Age range: Women and girls 10+

Just for grown ups

If you want to level up your own learning and leave the little ones at home, the Macbeth Centre also hosts plenty of classes just for adults.
